Correction to May’s issue of Professional magazine

06 June 2022

May’s issue of Professional magazine featured an article discussing the latest updates from the CIPP’s technical panel, on pages 16-17. Unfortunately, the example included to show how employer’s National Insurance (NI) was calculated was incorrect.

The online version of the magazine has been corrected and can be located here. The printed magazine has already been distributed, so cannot be amended.

Previously, the employee’s NI rate for 2022/23 of 13.25% was applied to the earnings from the secondary threshold to the freeport upper secondary threshold (FUST), and to the earnings between the FUST and the upper earnings limit, instead of the employer rate of 15.05%. The correct example and figures are shown below:

A big thank you to Vince Ashall, who spotted the incorrect example.
