Achieve your CPD for 2015

04 November 2015

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a combination of approaches, ideas and techniques that will help you manage your own learning and development.

Achieve your 2015 CPD by:

  • Calling into the CIPP’s Advisory Service, if you didn’t know the answer then you have learned something and this will count towards your CPD
  • On the job learning
  • Read News On Line, Professional in Payroll, Pensions and Reward and other publications. If you learn something from the articles then this counts towards your CPD
  • Any form of networking where you may have learned something new
  • Attend training courses
  • Attend a CIPP event to update your knowledge and learn from the policy team, and other speakers, first hand. These are also excellent forums to hear about the recent developments at the CIPP and how you can make the most of your membership

All CIPP memberships have access to the CPD area of the website. If you are an associate, full or fellow member of the CIPP you will need to evidence your CPD to be able to renew your membership as this is in accordance with the CIPP code of conduct.

The CIPP continuously spot check CPD activity so take the time to log any form of learning or development on your record to ensure your membership level is maintained.

Why is CPD important?

As a professional, you have a responsibility to keep your skills and knowledge up to date. Through logging your CPD with the CIPP you are demonstrating your commitment to keeping up to date and compliant with constantly changing legislation. You are also showing your employer, or future employers, that you are open to change and willing to learn new processes or ways of doing things which may improve operational efficiencies.

CPD is an investment that you make in yourself. It’s a way of planning your development that links learning directly to practice. CPD can help you keep your skills up to date and prepare you for greater responsibilities. It can boost your confidence, strengthen your professional credibility and help you become more creative in tackling new challenges. CPD makes your working life more interesting and can significantly increase your job satisfaction. It can accelerate your career development and is an important part of upgrading to chartered membership.

How do I log CPD?

Log into the members’ area and record your activity by completing the form. This links to your membership record and enables continued use of the letters after your name. If you require any help logging your CPD via the website please email us or call 0121 712 1073.
