SURVEY RESULTS FROM IPP MEMBERS IN RESPECT OF ELECTRONIC P60'S

23 July 2009

Summary

The following results are in respect of a survey carried out by the IPP Policy Team. The survey was created to enable the IPP to lobby HMRC on behalf of the IPP members to permit electronic P60s where employers wished to use the facility.

There were 118 responses to the question detailed below. An overwhelming 90% of those that responded want to be able to issue their employees electronic P60s, or had no opinion. Less than 10% of respondents did not wish changes to the legislation. The IPP therefore will lobby HMRC again to request the regulations to be changed, or for the policy advisors to interpret the PAYE regulations as permitting electronic copies. As many of the returns that payroll must submit to HMRC including of course the P14s are electronic, there is no reason why P60s should not be issued in this way, where the employer already uses electronic facilities, for example online payslips.
