Government consultation response: Closing the Gender Pay Gap

In July 2015 the consultation ‘Closing the Gender Pay Gap’ was published to seek views on the transparency proposals and broader questions about girls’ aspirations, women returning to work and older working women.

The Government response has been published at the same time as publication of the draft regulations on Mandatory Gender Pay Gap Reporting. The response makes it clear that these regulations are only one element of their wider strategy to tackle the complex drivers of the pay gap and ensure that every woman is able to achieve her full potential.

A report has also been published by the Government Equalities Office (GEO) in partnership with Deloitte, which sets out what closing the gender pay gap really means; how businesses can benefit; the importance of transparency in driving progress and successful action employers are taking.
