REPLACEMENT NATIONAL INSURANCE CARDS

05 September 2011

Further to the announcement that National Insurance cards are being phased out we have been given an update on the project.

As background, the project was set up in October 2010 following a Government announcement to “introduce a new system for distributing National Insurance numbers to people, with the plastic National Insurance number card replaced initially with a letter, saving money for Government and helping to reduce the deficit at a crucial time”.

The current plastic NINo card is being replaced with a system produced letter for all customer groups. The change is being introduced in 3 phases:

Phase 1 - Replacement cards (introduced in October 2010)

Phase 2 - New cards to adults (July 2011)

Phase 3 - New cards to juveniles (October 2011)

Phases 1 and 2 have already been delivered.  Follow the link below to read a message with further information.
