HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has published the latest version of P9X(2024) – Tax codes to use from 6 April 2024 has been added in English and Welsh.
HMRC Tax Code Guidance for New Starters & Leavers
The guidance sets out getting ready for the new tax year and when to make the change to tax codes. The document also details tax code allocation for new starters, leavers and employees with a new tax code form P9(T).
Basic Personal Tax Allowance Stays at £12,570
As expected, the basic personal allowance remains frozen at £12,570 for the whole of the UK and the emergency code continues to be 1257L for the 2024/25 tax year.
What is the new tax code for 2025?
According to the gov.uk website, the emergency tax codes that will apply from 6 April 2025 are:
- 1257L W1
- 1257L M1
- 1257L X
