Parental Bereavement Leave and Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay (Policy factsheet)
10 July 2020
From 6 April 2020, a new right was granted to employees who lose a child under the age of 18 or suffer a stillbirth from 24 weeks pregnancy. Employees in Great Britain now have a statutory right to Parental Bereavement Leave (PBL), which allows them up to two weeks off work. This is a right from day one of employment. Where eligibility criteria are met, the employee may also be entitled to two weeks of Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay (SPBP).
