Salary boost for new maths, physics, chemistry and computing teachers

06 October 2021

Eligible teachers, in the first five years of their career, will be able to receive an increased salary in order to support recruitment and retention in the areas that need it most.

The £3,000 tax-free boost, announced by Boris Johnson at the Conservative party conference, is backed by £60 million in funding. This is available alongside the starting salary of £30,000 due to start in 2022-23.

Further details on scheme eligibility and implementation are still to come.
