CIPP Royal Charter , Bye-laws and Regulations (updated April 2022).pdf

The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is pleased to confirm that the Royal Charter is held at the Head Office of the CIPP in Solihull, West Midlands. This is further to the CIPP being granted Chartered Status in March 2011.

The chief executive of the CIPP, said: “We all are absolutely delighted at the achievement of Chartered Status, and having the Charter take pride of place in the Head Office has given us all a real sense of achievement."

“Attaining Chartered Status provides the ideal opportunity for the Institute to demonstrate the valuable contributions that payroll professionals provide not only within business but also to UK society as a whole. I hope that this achievement finally gives the payroll industry the recognition and respect it deserves.”

In November 2016, the Royal Charter and its bye-laws were updated, following approved by privy council to include Individual Chartered Status. This allows our members, for the first time in the industry, to be recognised as Chartered Payroll Professionals - further raising the profile of the payroll and pensions.

IPP Education Ltd

IPP Education Ltd is a subsidiary of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) and is the company through which the CIPP’s learning and development programmes are delivered.

IPP Education was originally founded in 1991 when the Diploma in Payroll Management was launched. The first intake for students was slightly under 500 when all research indicated that we would be lucky to get 100. The oldest graduate in those early days was a 63-year-old gentleman who said he wanted to show the world that he could do the job.

Today it operates under the main CIPP brand and our qualifications are accepted as the industry benchmark and, thanks to the support provided to students, the CIPP has an outstandingly high pass rate for blended learning study methods.

Our learning and development portfolio offers individuals and employers learning opportunities at all levels.

With public and in-house training courses and professional qualifications covering all aspects of payroll, pensions and reward through a mixture of learning methods from online delivery, face to face teaching, in-company training, conferences, or a mixture of all of these the CIPP has something to suit all needs.

The CIPP is committed to satisfy any statutory or regulatory requirements applicable to the Institute’s services. Employees must follow procedures and the Quality Management System.

The CIPP’s goal is to ensure customer satisfaction by understanding and meeting customer requirements. Analysis of customer satisfaction either by event or activity is prepared then reviewed by the Senior leadership team and Managers with appropriate action being taken as necessary. An annual Market Insight Survey is also conducted to gauge customer satisfaction, requirements, any future needs.

In a similar way the Institute is also committed to delivering a high standard of support to its employees, and in recognition of this has successfully gained and maintained the Investors in People award and Best Companies award.  Where training and development is required, this will be identified initially through the appraisal process for existing employees or during the induction process for new starters.

The CIPP board of directors are committed to the Quality Management System and it is a clear aim to seek to continually improve the system.  Regular reviews of the Quality Management System will take place and briefings will be held at least annually at which the effectiveness of the system will be communicated to all employees.
