Changes to apprenticeships and CIPP delivery of apprenticeships.

Over the last few years, further education has changed significantly. Most recently, the governments apprenticeship reform programmes and changes to funding rules, including the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy, in April 2017.

As a direct result of government changes on 30 November 2016, the intermediate and advanced apprenticeship in payroll (under the previous Specification of apprenticeship standards framework) expired, ensuring that no current apprenticeship in payroll available to the sector.

The future of apprenticeships in payroll

In 2016 a Trailblazer group began working on a replacement of the framework (a new Standard) and in 2017 the Trailblazer group updated its membership to reinvigorate the project and submit a revised new Standard and an End-point assessment plan.

The revised new Standard was signed off by the Institute for Apprenticeships on 2 March 2018, and the End-point assessment plan was submitted on the 28 February 2018.

Review of the End-point assessment plan will be a rigorous and robust process and the Trailblazer group are awaiting approval.
